What’s inside a skill.md file
A skill.md file pairs a short block of metadata with plain-language instructions the agent reads at run time. There’s no compiling and no proprietary format — it’s a text file a clinician, an informaticist, or a developer can read top to bottom.
- Frontmatter — name, description, and the tools or data the skill is allowed to touch.
- Instructions — the steps, guardrails, and escalation rules the agent follows.
- Examples — sample inputs and outputs that keep behavior consistent across sessions.
